Wheels up (and packed!)
All thirteen of us made it to the airport and have completed the first leg of the trip to Chicago. This post will be very brief as we are currently on the plane waiting for our second plane to take off. After 10 hours, we will arrive in Istanbul, Turkey. Then another six hour flight to Kyrgyzstan.
But, I wanted to share how good He has been. We received a list from two of the orphanages about things they would wish to have if it was possible for us to provide them. We received the lists 72 hours before leaving. It was easy enough for us to obtain the small medical supplies and medications, but there were big wishes for specific children in need too. Walking braces, crutches, a wheel chair..... No way did I think we could obtain those things and successfully transport them across the world in 72 hours. We would just have to hope we could buy those supplies when we got to Kyrgyzstan.
Well, an adoptive mama who has come to pick up two precious children from this part of the world previously, knew we were going and asked if we’d like to take her child’s old walking braces. After all, when they picked up their daughter, she had been wearing braces that were originally made for someone else and been repurposed for her. What a great idea and hopefully a blessing to many children (she had a lot of braces!!). But as things have been going, it gets even better...
The next day, 36 hours before we were to leave, she texted again asking if we’d like a wheel chair, pediatric walker, and support crutches too. She had not seen the wish list and had no idea these specific items were in need. AMAZING! YES! But then comes something else almost as miraculous as their generous heart to donate these items. We got them ALL packed and checked on the plane for no additional cost! The special needs orphanage is about to be blown away with the thousands of dollars of supplies coming their way!
That’s all I have time to write now. I apologize for any typos. I’m attempting to do this on my phone and the font is tiny. It also won’t let me upload photos from my phone so those will come later.
